Channing Amplifiers was founded by engineer and guitarist, David M. Channing.

With more than 25 years experience as an electrical engineer, session guitar player and professional recording engineer, Channing brings technical savvy and musical artistry to his classic line of guitar amplifiers.

Channing studied electrical engineering at Michigan Tech University and later earned a B.S. in Music from Northern Michigan University.   He spent his early years working as an electrical engineer supervising microelectronic manufacturing.  Later, he toured the world playing guitar with several bands.  For the past fifteen years, Channing has been a professional recording engineer and music editor in Los Angeles.  He has worked with many of the world’s best guitar players, including Tim Pierce, George Doering, Michael Landau, Jeff Beck, Dean Parks, David Lindley, Steuart Smith, Michael Thompson, Greg Leisz, Bruce Gaitsch, Rusty Anderson, Davey Johnstone, Heitor Pereira, Ramon Stagnaro, David Hidaldgo, and Richie Sambora.

CHANNING AMPLIFIER DESIGN
David Channing has been modifying, repairing and re-building amplifiers for over 25 years. His experience as a recording engineer gave him the unique opportunity to work with some of the best guitar players in the world and to observe what they use and how they use it. Channing’s personal mission to create amplifiers that hearken back to classic tones from eras past soon evolved into building amplifiers for select guitar players. Today, Channing Amps is a small Southern California manufacturer of guitar amplifiers.  The CL Series marks the foundation of several amplifier designs currently in development.
